What is Prosthodontics?
Prosthodontics is that speciality of dentistry which pertains to the rehabilitation of oral function by the restoration of natural teeth and or the replacement of missing teeth and associated tissues. To learn more about Prosthodontics - Click Here.

About AANZP
The Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists (AANZP) was established to promote the dental and general health of the community through improved prosthodontic knowledge and care. Its goal is to advance the knowledge of prosthodontics amongst its own members and the general dental profession.

Activities
The "Academy" works to encourage and support prosthodontic research in Australia and New Zealand and to support the interests of members in the practice of, and teaching of prosthodontics.
The Academy's role is to encourage and maintain the study of Prosthodontics and the clinical advancement of prosthodontics, and to promote and maintain high ethical and professional standards amongst Prosthodontists.

AANZP promotes the recognition of prosthodontics as a specialist branch of dentistry. It is an affiliated body of the Australian Dental Association and supports the activities of both the Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontic Societies. The Academy also supports and monitors the graduate training programmes in both Australia and New Zealandand advises the appropriate registration bodies on requirements for specialist registration.

It promotes the appointment of its members within hospital boards and public bodies.

Membership
Membership of the Academy is granted to a registered dentist, who has completed a period of two years in the practice of or teaching of general dentistry (or some equivalent period approved by Council) prior to the commencement of a course leading to a higher qualification in prosthodontics approved by Council, AND who has completed a course which Council approves comprising three or more full time academic years of advanced education leading to a higher qualification in prosthodontics approved by Council. OR who has completed a course and gained a qualification in prosthodontics demonstrating advanced clinical expertise to a level equivalent to that of a graduate of a three year full time course approved by the Council AND has satisfied Council that he/she has completed not less than two years of exclusive practice in prosthodontics after obtaining the higher degree in prosthodontics.
