Cracked tooth syndrome and split roots are common but can be difficult to diagnose and treat. This course will give you an understanding of these problems, and provide practical experience in prevention and management. Main topics: • biomechanics of teeth • identifying the patient at risk of cracking teeth • the unique pain characteristics of cracked teeth • diagnosing cracked teeth • pulpal health and management of cracked teeth • cracked teeth versus split teeth • material selection in restoring cracked teeth • prosthodontic preparation design principles with different material choices • hands-on sessions on amalgam cusp/composite overlays, ceramic/gold onlays and crown preparations. Learn how to: • appreciate the factors that contribute towards teeth sustaining cracks • differentially diagnose cases of cracked tooth syndrome • understand the reasons for possible endodontic intervention • prepare affected teeth for protective restorations • appreciate the factors that contribute towards teeth sustaining cracks.
