Grants open February 2025
ADA Dental Study Grants (Hardship) aim to support Australians who are enrolled as full-time students in an Australian dental degree that qualifies them to practise as a dentist and are currently in at least the second year of their degree.
In 2025, the ADA will issue up to 10 Study Grants (Hardship) to dental students who are experiencing hardship. Examples of hardship include, but are not limited to, caring for dependants or family members, residing in a rural or remote area for 5 years immediately prior to study, financial hardship, personal or family illness, disability, trauma, or recognised refugee status.
Each ADA Study Grant (Hardship) is valued at $5,000 AUD.
Eligibility
The ADA Dental Student Study Grant (Hardship) will be available to dental students:
i. Who are Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.
ii. Who are enrolled full-time in an Australian undergraduate or graduate entry dental degree leading to registration as a dentist and have completed at least the first year of that degree; and
iii. Have not received two or more ADA Dental Student Study Grants prior to applying.
iv. The study grant is not open to students who are enrolled in courses to qualify as a dental hygienist, dental therapist, oral health therapist, and/or dental prosthetist.
Successful applicants will be selected by a panel appointed by ADA. Recipients of the ADA Study Grant (Hardship) will be required to provide a brief report detailing how the grant assisted them.
