ADA Grants for Rural and Remote Dentist Students


Ten grants overall, worth $5000 each, are available for dentist students from rural and remote regions. 

 

a. Returning to Origins study grants

This grant is designed to support students from rural or remote communities who are undertaking a course of study that will lead to registration as a dentist, and who have demonstrated a significant commitment and desire to return to work in rural and remote areas after they graduate.  

Five ADA Returning to Origins Study Grants of $5,000 each are available in 2024. 

 

b. Hardship study grants

This grant is designed to support students who are undertaking a course of study that will lead to registration as a dentist, and who are experiencing hardship regardless of their geographical background. They must also have demonstrated a significant commitment and desire to work in rural and remote areas after they graduate. 

Five ADA Hardship Study Grants of $5,000 each are available in 2024. 


Eligible applicants must be:

•    Either Australian citizens or permanent resident; and enrolled as full-time students in an undergraduate or graduate entry degree immediately leading to registration as a dentist and must have completed at least the first year of that degree.

•    Please note that grants are not open to those students who are enrolled in degree courses to qualify as a dental hygienist, dental therapist, oral health therapist, and/or dental prosthetists.

•    Grants are not available to students who have already been the recipient of two or more ADA study grants for dentist students.

Successful applicants will be selected by a panel appointed by ADA. Award recipients will be required to provide a report of 500 words to the ADA about how they used the grant.


Applications for 2024 open on Tuesday 2 January 2024 and close at end of day on Sunday 31 March 2024.
