Additional advisory phone lines have been added to the service, which is a comprehensive offering that meets the needs of everyone from dental students to practice owners.

As part of the ADA’s commitment to supporting members in every aspect of their professional lives, the ADA HR Service has been expanded and enhanced, with ADA members now having access to a broader range of HR advice, practical tools, and increased expert support.

These new services add to an already comprehensive service which offers advice on everything from award and pay guides to contracts, work health & safety and meeting migration requirements and more.

"I benefit as an ADA member from the fact that the Association is an organised and structured community of dentists which gives me access to professional advice from experts on a range of issues including HR. In times of professional need, they are always there to help.” (Dr Irene Kennedy, member since 2010)

Introduced in response to ADA member feedback about what is important to them in the human resources space, the changes are as follows:

The current Workplace relations telephone advice line will extend its operating hours to include an additional 11 ½ hours of contact time per week as follows:

Monday to Friday: 8 am to 9 pm (AEST or AEDT)

Saturday: 9 am to 5 pm (AEST or AEDT)

The additional lines being added to the service, effective Friday 1 August 2025, will offer members additional opportunities to source the information they need when they need it.

1. The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Telephone Advice Line will provide a comprehensive advisory resource for members in all aspects of WHS management.

Monday to Friday: 8 am to 6 pm

2. Migration and Visa Advice Line will provide tailored visa support for both employers and employees, offering advice on rights, responsibilities, compliance and hiring to ensure smooth and lawful immigration processes.

Monday to Friday: 8 am to 6 pm

The launch of these extra additional phone lines is the first step in an ongoing process to add increased offerings to an already valuable member service, with more services to be added in due course.

ADA President, Dr Chris Sanzaro, a practising dentist in Launceston, Tasmania, believes these added services will benefit members who need correct, timely advice on a range of HR matters, regardless of whether they are an employer or employee.

“If you're running a practice, understanding your responsibilities for those you employ, and acting in full accordance with the law is a must; equally though if you’re an employee, it’s vitally important you have all the information you need to ensure your rights are upheld.

“The ADA HR Advisory Service fulfills both functions, ensuring that every member, no matter what their employment status might be, is fully aware of their rights and responsibilities at every stage of their career. These new options are an important addition to an already valuable service.”
