The ADA is launching an exciting limited series of webinars targeted at dentists in the early stages of their career with a particular emphasis on mentoring by more experienced peers.

Being elevated carries the positive connotation of being raised above and beyond the usual plane of things, which is why Elevate was chosen as the name for the ADA’s exciting new limited series of webinars for early career dentists.

The series has been launched with the understanding that while graduates emerge into the dental workforce fully armed with the very best education, translating that into boots-on-the-ground, day-to-day practice comes with an array of big and small challenges.

All these challenges have been faced and solved at one point or another by more experienced dentists already in the profession, and so the idea was borne to bring graduates and mentors together for online sessions where all kinds of questions can be answered, and solutions provided in a supportive, collegial online environment.

Each session, hosted by Dr Cathleen Dong, will comprise a discussion between the mentors and mentees including a Q & A where attendees will have the freedom to post questions on any issue directly affecting them and obtain the information they need in real time. (Questions can either be asked on the night or via Peer, the ADA’s online community for members, prior to the event.)

It is hoped that these webinars will function as a valuable accompaniment to any already existing mentoring efforts currently underway.

"Having been involved with recent grads for a while, I'm looking forward to hosting Elevate, and the opportunity to reach out to recent grads from all over Australia," says Dr Cathleen Dong.

The first webinar will take place on Wednesday 23 August at 7 pm AEST with webinars taking place monthly after that.
