Periodontitis and systemic disease. How are they connected?

The lecture will assess the known associations between systemic disease risk factors and periodontitis. He will discuss the suggested associations between these risk factors and periodontal disease progression based around the latest disease models. Most genetic studies have not found reproducible findings which will be discussed. He will present data from the retrospective observational study conducted at his specialist practice the genetic susceptibility to periodontitis which will assess the biochemical directed genomics approach. At the conclusion of this session, gain an understanding of the: associations between systemic disease and periodontitis. underlying mechanisms behind periodontitis and systemic health interactions. gunderlying complex genetics of periodontitis. personalised precision medicineapproach to patient treatment. Presented by Clin. Assoc. Prof. Neil R Mc Gregor
