Dentistry’s regulatory body is asking for applications for both member practitioner positions and community member positions.

Australian dentistry’s regulatory body, the Dental Board of Australia (the Board), is asking for applications for those interested in being considered for appointment to the organisation.

There are two opportunities to contribute to the work of the organisation currently available.

Opportunity 1 - The National Board

Applications are open for both practitioner member positions (for people who are registered as a dental practitioner, in any division) and community member positions (open to anyone that is not, and has not at any time been, a dental practitioner registered with the Board).

Registered practitioners are also eligible to apply for the position of Board Chair.

In order to allow potential applicants to make a fully informed decision about any involvement, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), which is charged with overall regulation of Australia's health practitioners, is running a live Q&A webinar with current National Board members to learn more about what is involved and what life is like as a board member.

Opportunity 2 - The National Committees

The Board is calling for applications to its following national committees, which review, assess and make decisions on notification matters (complaints) and applications for registration:

- Immediate Action Committee
- Notification Committee Assessment
- Notification and Compliance Committee, and
- Registration and Compliance Committee.

Terms of reference for each of the national committees and details about how to apply are available on the website.

The Board is seeking applications from experienced dental practitioners and members of the community driven by a commitment to increasing Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leadership and voices in the National Scheme.

If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and would like to talk about these opportunities, please email mobvoices@ahpra.gov.au or call 0477 477 218 and Dr Stephen Corporal, Senior Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Officer, will be in touch.
