Committees 2024-26

One of the most impactful ways to contribute to the Australian dental profession is to provide your time, experience and expertise to an ADA committee/s. This two-year commitment gives you an opportunity to make a substantial contribution to the life of the ADA and your profession by playing a role in the formulation of ADA policy, practices, educational and advocacy efforts.

Being a member of a committee involves:

• Participation in at least two meetings each year, which may involve interstate travel and/or teleconference/videoconference;
• Regular engagement between meetings on relevant and time-sensitive matters;
• Research, strategic thinking and contribution to policy discussions which form the basis of recommendations made to the Board; and
• The opportunity to directly engage with ADA office bearers, senior management and secretariat staff.

Nominations open for ADA committees every two years with the next round opening in September 2026 for the 2026-28 period. You will be asked to select committees that match your skills and knowledge, and for which you have a genuine interest.

Board of Directors

The Board is responsible for making financial and operational decisions to ensure that the goals of the ADA's strategic plan are achieved.

ADA Advisory Committee ADAAC

Among other tasks, this committee supports the ADA in its work and considers and recommends policy discussion papers to advance the interests of the dental profession consistent with the ADA's strategic priorities.

STANDING COMMITTEES

Finance, Risk & Audit Committee

This committee reviews and makes recommendations to the ADA Board and the ADA CEO on best practice in relation to audit and risk related matters.

Policy Committee

This committee advises the ADA Board on policy priorities, ensuring the ADA has appropriate policies and positions in place and that these align with the Association's objectives.

Dental Education & Training Committee

This committee monitors, reviews and reports on education and training programs of all dental personnel in Australia and to identify opportunities to further CPD and training of the dental workforce.

Dental Informatics & Digital Health Committee

This committee provides a source of reference, advice and assistance for policy and resource development on aspects of digital informatics and digital health including data governance, privacy issues, cyber risk etc.

Dental Instruments, Materials & Equipment DIME Committee

This committee promotes the best practice use of dental products, the adoption of innovative technology, best practice solutions for environmental sustainability and to act as an expert resource to members.

Dental Therapeutics Committee

This committee researches and assists with policy development, advising the ADA Board on the best practice use of therapeutics in dental practice and liaising with outside organisations about therapeutics.

Honours & Awards Committee

This committee identifies and seeks nominations of potential nominees for external and Association honours and awards, providing all necessary information to the ADA Board when they consider the conferring of awards.

Infection Control Committee

This committee researches and assists with policy development and advice to the ADA Board regarding infection control in dentistry in addition to promoting best practice infection control solutions.

Nomination & Remuneration Committee

This committee recommends the process and timeline for the CEO's appointment and performance evaluation reviews and makes recommendations to the ADA Board regarding remuneration for the Board and the ADA DHF members.

Schedule & Third Party Committee

This committee, among other tasks, maintains the ADA's Australian Schedule of Dental Services and Glossary, collecting, reviewing, evaluation and consulting on proposals and recommendations for changes to this publication.

The Editorial Advisory Board, the members of which are selected eminent Australian and overseas persons, assists and advises the Editor, and serve in an honorary capacity.
