National voice of the dental profession

The ADA is the national voice for dentists and dentistry in Australia. We bring members’ voices to the places where decisions about regulation and policy are made.

The ADA advocates for the profession across the Federal Parliament, with national regulators such as Ahpra and the National Boards, and key Commonwealth departments. We contribute to parliamentary inquiries, government forums and departmental consultations to help drive policy and regulatory change.

All ADA members are invited to be a part of this advocacy. Member feedback through Peer, surveys and the Consultation Hub, informs ADA positions and priorities, as does input from Branches, spokespeople, special interest groups, and the ADA’s standing committees.

Our advocacy spans a wide range of issues including:

  • Professional standards and regulation
  • Dental education and training
  • Workforce policy and planning
  • Evolving clinical practice, technology and models of care
  • Market issues i.e. private health insurers
  • Access to dental care including CDBS, SDBS
  • Preventive health policy i.e. fluoridation

Many of these priorities are informed by ADA’s Future of Dentistry report, forum and consultations which provide the strategic framework that informs the next National Oral Health Plan.
