The ADA is encouraging members to nominate someone you know who has made, or is making, a significant national contribution to furthering dentistry and/or the profession.

We work in a profession of impressive standards and enduring excellence, and in recognition of the exemplary work done by so many dentists, the ADA is once again calling for nominations that recognise the brightest stars in dentistry. It’s important for you to nominate someone you think is deserving of this accolade, because as is so often the case with those worthy of recognition, they are usually not the type of people to sing their own praises.

So, we’d like you to nominate someone you know who has made, or is making, a significant national contribution to furthering dentistry and/or the profession in: i. a particular field of dentistry; ii. dentistry as a whole; or iii. the community as a whole.

If so, we want to hear from you!

APPLICATIONS OPEN 1 AUGUST AND CLOSE 30 SEPTEMBER

To inspire you, here are some past recipients, all of whom were recognised for their contributions as mentors, role models and leaders in their field:

Prof Laurie Walsh AO
Honorary Life Membership

The granting of this honour, the most senior award granted by the Association, recognised the years of dedication and tireless service Laurie has provided to the ADA, dentistry, and dental education. Laurie has served on numerous Branch and Federal Committees, authored a significant number of scientific articles and books, mentored students, received many invitations to lecture both nationally and internationally, and still managed to dedicate time to Special Needs Dentistry. His service has been exemplary.

Professor Pauline Ford
Distinguished Service Award

This award was provided to Pauline in recognition of the distinguished service that she has provided to both the ADA and the dental profession. Pauline’s commitment to teaching and research activities, with a focus on oral health and its role in general health and wellbeing, has been exemplary. Pauline is a valued contributor at the University of Queensland – being the first woman to lead a School of Dentistry in the Australia-New Zealand region is quite an achievement.

Dr Tom Tseng
Valuable Service Award

This award was in recognition of the valuable work Tom has rendered to the ADA and the dental profession. Tom’s work has been recognised both nationally and internationally with fellowships of PFA, AADI and ICD. He has been an active contributor to dental and oral health programs at the University of Sydney and Newcastle, an examiner for RACDS, and has had a long-standing involvement in the assessment of overseas-trained dentists. His contributions are commendable.

Dr Jilen Patel
Outstanding Young Dentist Award

This award was in recognition of the significant contribution Jilen has provided to the dental profession. His commitment and contribution to specialist paediatric dentistry, voluntary work, and community service as part of the Kimberley Dental Team, and his work as a senior lecturer in clinical dentistry at the UWA Dental School, is commendable. The Association is very proud to have a young professional like Jilen as an ambassador for the profession.
