Most dentists have stood at the chair knowing that a large direct composite is a challenging solution - in both delivery and long-term performance. The heavily broken-down posterior tooth is a clinical reality: getting a matrix band on, achieving a good seal, and building reliable contacts in composite can feel like a battle against the tooth itself. The better solution is usually indirect - but for many patients, the full ceramic option may be out of reach.
