Staged as part of the highly successful Australian Dental Congress 2025, the Pierre Fauchard Academy event highlighted the best and brightest professional new voices in dentistry.

Future Leaders Shine In PFA Emerging Young Lecturers Competition

An international dental honour organization founded in 1936, the Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA) is committed to recognising and developing outstanding leadership in our profession, internationally.

As part of its mission, Region VIII of the PFA actively champions newer leaders through programs such as the Pierre Fauchard Academy Emerging Young Lecturers competition which was held on the opening day of the Australian Dental Congress, held this year from 8-10 May 2025 in Perth, Western Australia. The competition, the brainchild of Dr Mark Sinclair, Past PFA President, is unique to our region and its success here has led to similar competitions being developed internationally.

Dr Saloni Singh was announced as the Pierre Fauchard National Emerging Young Lecturer after an intellectually robust and highly informative competition, and she received $5,000 along with the opportunity to present at the next Australian Dental Congress.

The competition, judged by Dr Shane Fryer OAM, ADA President Dr Chris Sanzaro, Conjoint Professor Deb Cockrell AM and RACDS President Dr Erin Mahoney, was tight and after much deliberation, Dr Helen Fisher from Queensland received the Encouragement Award from the remaining field of four which included Dr Adrienne Tracy (Victoria), Dr Sarah Amr (NSW) and Dr Cheryl Fu (WA). ADA Federal very generously provided financial support for travel for all competitors.

A highlight of every Australian Dental Congress, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Emerging Young Lecturers competition is proof positive that the future of dentistry is in very promising hands.
