Get ready! It’s just one month until World Oral Health Day 2026

The FDI World Dental Federation event, which takes place on Friday 20 March, is celebrating this year’s theme “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life”.
World Oral Health Day (WOHD) is a major date on the world oral health calendar, with this year marking the final instalment of the three-year “Happy Mouth” campaign.
A key initiative of the FDI World Dental Federation, of which the ADA is a longtime, active member, WOHD’s 2026 campaign, “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life”, highlights "the essential role oral health plays in overall well-being throughout life, from infancy through older adulthood".
The promotion of healthy oral habits seeks to empower people "to smile, eat, speak, and live with confidence", believing that good oral health is integral to overall good general health, and of course, a happy life.
WOHD 2026, once again featuring loveable mascot, Toothie the Beaver, will reinforce the message that oral health is for everyone, no matter who you are or where you live, and that simply daily habits such as brushing and flossing, healthy eating and drinking, and visiting a dentist on a regular basis can make a profound difference to someone’s overall health.
Now is the time to plan to get involved with WOHD 2026 and send the message to your local community that life is better when you take care of the health of your teeth and gums.
The ADA will once again be supporting this major global campaign with the Association’s Oral Health Promoter, Dr Monica Farrelly, emphasising the importance of promoting good oral health to all Australians at every opportunity.
“As an organisation devoted to improving the oral and general health of the public, World Oral Health Day gives us the perfect opportunity to spread the message to all Australians.
“This year, we’re encouraging everyone to use the extensive resources provided by FDI and get out into their communities, the media and with their own patients and to highlight how excellent oral health does lead to a happy life.”
