The new rates, increased at or below indexation, take into account cost-of-living pressures and the need to continue funding the public protection work of the National Scheme.

Key points
- The National Boards and Ahpra keep fee increases at or below indexation.
- A thirty-percent rebate on annual renewal fees for practitioners who have recently taken certain leave is now available.
- Registration fees fund the work of the National Boards and Ahpra to keep the public safe.
The National Boards and Ahpra have announced registration fees for 2025/26, with any increases at or below indexation.
This means that the Dental Board of Australia rates (excluding NSW *) for dentists and specialists only increase from $785 to $818, for dental prosthetists from $267 to $278 and for dental hygienists, dental therapists and oral health therapists from $246 to $256.
When announcing the annual rates for the next year, Ahpra CEO Justin Untersteiner said the National Boards and Ahpra have been mindful of cost-of-living pressures in the community.
"Registration fees fund our work to keep the public safe.
"In setting fees, we’ve kept them as low as possible without compromising service quality or our ability to protect the public."
The National Boards and Ahpra are also working to make fee arrangements fairer and more flexible, announcing in July a new fee relief policy where practitioners who take qualifying leave can now claim a 30% rebate on their annual registration fees.
Recommendations from a wider review into pro-rata fees are expected in November with approved changes to come into effect from 1 July 2026.

* These fees apply to all states and territories except for NSW where notifications (complaints) about registered health practitioners are managed by the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission and the NSW Health Professional Councils and not by Ahpra. The rates for NSW reflect this difference.)
Any variation to the fees payable by NSW-based practitioners is announced by each NSW Health Professional Council and detailed in the published fee schedules on National Board websites.
