Orthodontic Retention: A Team Approach

Orthodontic retention protocols changed extensively over time. Nowadays, the use of long-term retainers is widely accepted. However, retention procedures diverge substantially from one geographic area to another. To prevent orthodontic relapse, orthodontists need failure-free retainers that help minimizing posttreatment changes, without causing unwanted and detrimental side effects. Which evidence do we have? The lecture will place these questions into perspective based on an overview of the literature. At the conclusion of this session, participants will: Gain awareness of the main evidence-based retention protocols in clinical orthodontic practice. Have an overview of the survival and failure rates of different types of retainers, as well as their possible side effects Gain a perspective of long-term stability of orthodontic treatments, based on the latest available evidence. Presented by Prof Marie Cornelis CPD hours: 1 clinical hour RSVP by 21/10/2025 Please note: After registering for this event, you will receive confirmation of registration.
