After ten years working as a hairdresser and becoming a mum, Jacquie was ready for a career change. Her interest in dental assisting came about through an ad posted online, and she recognised considerable crossover between her previous career and this possible one; with both professions involving care of clients and maintaining a connection with them. 

Jacquie loves that she can combine online learning with on-the-job training and that she can continue learning, and developing as her dental assisting career takes shape. Jacquie is a big believer in just jumping into things, an approach that has proven successful in her new career where each day provides her with fulfilling interactions with her dentist, the rest of the dental team and patients, and the chance to add to her knowledge as time goes on. 

Jacquie believes that “this career change was the best thing I could have done.”
