ADA’s call for the Government to make an increased contribution to funding public dental treatment is back on the agenda in the first full week of Parliament after the election.

With Federal Parliament returning this week, dentistry was placed firmly back on the national agenda when Senator Jordan Steele-John led a Greens' push to bring dental into Medicare.
As political discussions get underway in Canberra, the ADA continues to advocate for the Government to be more actively involved in the funding of public dental services which remain the preserve of the states and territories, albeit with Commonwealth funding.
In a range of TV and radio news stories which appeared across the ABC News network on Monday 21 July, ADA President Dr Chris Sanzaro put the case for increased funding of dentistry in the light of long waiting lines for those who cannot afford private dental treatment, and to address serious, ongoing oral health issues in the community.
