Marking the end of the current three-year promotional cycle, the global oral health event, to be staged on 20 March, will carry the theme “A Happy Mouth is … A Happy Life”.

As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting good oral health to all Australians, the ADA will once again celebrate World Oral Health Day (WOHD) in 2026, closing its three-year “A Happy Mouth is ...” with the theme “A Happy Mouth is … A Happy Life”.

Launched at the recent World Dental Congress in Shanghai, China, WOHD 2026, like its predecessors, aims “to inspire lasting, positive change by showing the vital role oral health plays in living a healthier, happier life."

An initiative of the FDI World Dental Federation, of which the ADA is a long-time active member, WOHD 2026, once again featuring loveable mascot, Toothie the Beaver (see below) aims to educate people around the world about the importance of oral health and how closely it is related to oral health.

It will take people on a journey from a baby’s first teeth right through to old age, impressing on people that oral health is not simply about healthy teeth and gums but that it has a material impact on how we eat, speak, learn, work and connect with one another.

WOHD 2026 will reinforce the message that oral health is for everyone, no matter who you are or where you live, and that simply daily habits such as brushing and flossing and visiting a dentist on a regular basis can make a profound difference to someone’s life for life.

Now is the time to plan to get involved with WOHD 2026 and send the message to local communities that life is better when you take care of the health of your teeth and gums.
