The FDI World Dental Federation, of which the ADA is a long-term active member, marked the end of the three-year "Happy Mouth is ..." campaign with awards to the people and organisations who helped to make it a success.

The FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) recently announced Generation Smile, the new ongoing theme of World Oral Health Day.

But as it announced the new theme (at the recently concluded FDI World Dental Congress in Prague), which is dedicated to bringing the people of the world together "to champion oral health as an essential part of overall health and well-being", FDI also took time to celebrate the people and organisations who made the previous three-year campaign, A Happy Mouth is ... such a huge success.

The 2026 Awards were focused on this year's sub-theme, A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Life, and the following groups and National Associations were honoured for their hard work and commitment to raising awareness of oral health and why it matters to communities in their respective countries:

  • Tanzania Dental Association - awarded "Most Educational Activity"

  • Turkish Dental Association - awarded "Best Media Campaign"

  • Arrow Dental Center, Kenya - awarded "Most Engaging Community Campaign"

  • Hermosillo Dental Student Association, Mexico - awarded "Best Campaign by a Dental Students Association"

In recognising these impressive campaigns, FDI had this to say.

"Together, these four winners demonstrate the many ways the World Oral Health Day message can be turned into meaningful action – through education, communications, community outreach and the energy of the next generation of oral health professionals.

"Congratulations to all our World Oral Health Day 2026 Award winners, and thank you to everyone around the world who helped bring A Happy Mouth is… A Happy Life to life."
