Getting the message out: the ADA's Dental Health Week in the media #1

Dental Health Week 2026 kicks off today and already the media has taken a keen interest in the fact that young Australians are increasingly at risk of falling through the cracks when it comes to oral health.

Dental Health Week is the ADA's annual flagship oral health promotion event and this year it is focusing on the oral health of 18-to-25-year-olds, often referred to as Generation Z or Gen Z.
With new national research commissioned for Dental Health Week released revealing a concerning combination of untreated dental problems, social media-driven cosmetic treatments, and preventable sports injuries among this group, the ADA is understandably keen to get the message about good oral health out to an age group which is faced with a multiplicity of challenges as they transition from family-managed healthcare to independent adulthood.
Combined with a highly targeted, information-rich social media campaign, we have also been active on traditional media with some high-profile appearances already by a number of ADA spokespeople including President Dr Chris Sanzaro, Vice President, Dr Angie Nilsson and the ADA's Oral Health Promoter, Dr Monica Farrelly.
